Our section ( 500m x 50m) ran from the railway tracks through Vector Arena, the railway station, the garden, right to the walkway leading up the university.Then my partner David and I modelled a 1:500 horizontal section. (the model in front of the HEAT pizza box)
The pins represent every 10m so we would stop and write down a number from 1-4, 1 being quiet and 4 being very loud. We focused on how sound affected us emotionally, so loud areas we showed by tying rough string in a chaotic way and in quiet areas we used fishing wire and tied it around the pins in a straight line.
For our vertical section we chose to model a residential building. We used wax to show the flow of sound. We wanted people to get this feeling of sound 'engulfing' the building. (wild)
