Rusted Steel

The steel material I was going to use

Cork

Cork

I have found a house that has used 'cork' to cover its exterior facade.
My original material choice was 'rusted steel', however I have been forced to rethink this option. Firstly because I have realised the surface texture may contrast too much with the surrounding area.

However if I use cork, the colour will be different but the texture is similar to the brick wall and the patchines of the bush. So I will need to make the design less random. So im focusing on one thing, material or shape.

Pencil vs Camera

My 'pencil vs camera' drawing.
I chose this area to place my bed because it partially hid my bed from strangers. The environment had a mysterious and 'magical' vibe.
-viewing
- hidden
- mediates secrecy
- solid/void

1. Brick material- undulating and rectangular
2. or more flexible
3. silt

Our section ( 500m x 50m) ran from the railway tracks through Vector Arena, the railway station, the garden, right to the walkway leading up the university. Then my partner David and I modelled a 1:500 horizontal section. (the model in front of the HEAT pizza box)
The pins represent every 10m so we would stop and write down a number from 1-4, 1 being quiet and 4 being very loud. We focused on how sound affected us emotionally, so loud areas we showed by tying rough string in a chaotic way and in quiet areas we used fishing wire and tied it around the pins in a straight line.

For our vertical section we chose to model a residential building. We used wax to show the flow of sound. We wanted people to get this feeling of sound 'engulfing' the building. (wild)
